# What is Animated Overlays?

> Animated Overlays is a Canva app that adds animated transparent-background stickers — snow, sparkle, bokeh, confetti, fireworks and more — to any design with one click.

Animated Overlays is a Canva app that generates **animated stickers with a transparent background** — falling snow, sparkles, bokeh, rain, hearts, bubbles, confetti, fireworks and more — and inserts them straight into your design with one click. No video editor, no downloads, no green screen removal.

Each sticker is vector-based, loops seamlessly, and scales without losing quality. It behaves like any animated element in Canva: use it on videos, presentations, social posts, stories, and thumbnails, and the motion plays whenever you preview or export your design as a video.

## How it works

Open Animated Overlays from the left sidebar in Canva, pick an effect, choose particle shapes, tune the sliders and colors while watching the live preview, then press **Add to design**. The animated sticker lands on your page as a regular Canva element — drag, resize, and layer it like anything else.

One click on Add to design places the animated sticker on your page

> The animation plays in Canva's **Preview** mode and in video (MP4) exports. On the editing canvas the sticker appears as a static element until you press play.
